Modern interpretations of great ancient jewelry. I look at today's fashion and don't see myself in it. So, I create my own whether it be clothing or jewelry. I always find that if I need something that doesn't seem to exist, then I am not alone. Others are looking, too, so why not create what I need and make it available to the public.

Feminine without being too girlie. I want to express my girlie side while still honoring my sensual womanly side. Sensuality is important and can be expressed in many ways. If she allows, a woman's sensuality ties directly in to her confidence. When I do allow myself, I always feel at my best. The perfect choice of jewelry for the day can make all the difference.

Why "Modern interpretations of great ancient jewelry"? I've always been drawn to the great ancient civilizations. Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, Imperial Rome, Imperial China, Imperial Japan and the art of Morocco, Spain and India. What decadence! Sensuality abounds! There are no restraints to the colors, materials and subject of their art and jewelry. I can't help but be influenced by what fascinates me! Can you imagine life as The Queen of Egypt or as an Indian princess where every sort of riches would be available to you? It's a dream that can't come true, but one piece of jewelry can make me feel like royalty in my own way.

Even with this ancient identity, shari b. jewelry is made up of many styles. I feel a little bit different each day. Some days are meant for delicate necklaces layered into dramatic effect. Other days require a single, strong chain choker. And what of the days that need not necklaces, but matching cuff bracelets of beautiful gems and gold on each wrist? shari b. jewelry has a design for every mood!

MATERIALS:
Semi-precious and precious gems linked by hand-wire-wrapped gold or sterling silver or hand-knotted silk. Nothing is random. Each strand of gems is carefully picked by me. I look for the perfect color, cut and style for the piece. That doesn't mean the gems are flawless. No. These are natural gems, not glass. It's the imperfection of nature that adds to the beauty and is part of shari b. jewelry designs. Look for the nature in each bead: the grain, crystallization, shades of color, cracks and bubbles. They make each piece one of a kind!

This is truly “jewelry inspired by the gem”. It’s the rare piece that I design before I’ve seen the gems in my hands. Generally, I see the gem and from that comes the design.

IMAGINATION/DREAMS:
Life is fascinating in its daily complexity, but we often wish we didn't have to deal w/ the mundane; that we can skip out of the regular and pop in to the extraordinary. A little escape in the midst of it all when a vacation is not possible; when the exotic is too far away. A special piece of jewelry can bring you in to another mindset. You feel different when you adorn yourself in beauty.
